Cyclocross is awesome, the fastest growing segment of competitive cycling in the US and it’s also just plain fun! The bikes have come a long way in the last few years with many now even coming with disc brakes. Mongoose Bikes is mostly known for their rich tradition in BMX racing, but they have recently been bringing back their cyclcoross bikes. Don’t think Mongoose knows cyclocross? Just remember that time when Marc Gullickson used to win races on his titanium ‘goose!
So a lot has certainly changed in the sport in the last few years from a technology perspective, but what hasn’t changed is how rowdy you can get on a cyclocross bike and they really are super versatile rides. A pro trials rider for Mongoose, Chris Akrigg, recently found this mystical sport of cyclocross and threw his leg over a bike. Check out the video below and see what Chris was able to do on a ‘cross bike. Enjoy!

I’ve been a fan of Cyclocross for a long time, so when Mongoose said they were working on the Selous I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one and see what all the fuss was about!
It has to be one of the purest forms of off road riding. I would say back to basics but my bike was pretty damn tech as Shimano set me up with there latest electric gears and disc brakes. That aside you’re still essentially riding a beefed up road bike with skinny tyres and no suspension making every rock, root, rut and discarded Duvel bottle a potential nightmare! A lot to be learned technically from riding a cross bike, have to be on point 110% of the time, I had a lot of fun putting this together. Enjoy! NEXT!
