Heading out to Pope Valley

Back in April I had the opportunity to ride some of the most beautiful and quiet roads in the country in and around Napa County, California. The big ride I did was the Pope Valley Loop starting and ending in downtown St. Helena. The ride climbs high up above the valley floor passing by some of the growing areas for Clif Family Wines and even their mountain side farm. Following my ride I spent some time at other wineries in the area including a tour of Rutherford Hill, known for the best merlot out of Napa.

After the tour of Rutherford Hill I drove back down into St. Helena to finally check out Velo Vino, the tasting room for Clif Family Wines. I was greeted by their incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and passionate

staff. I took a seat at their main bar and enjoyed a tasting flight complete with some of Gary and Kit’s favorite snacks. Little did I know that I picked the night that they were filming a short promo reel for the tasting room. Here’s a look at that video below and for the wine and cycling fans like me, Velo Vino is a must see when you are visiting Napa Valley.
