Much of the country is in the deep freeze right now and there is even snow falling as far south as central Texas. If you use your bike to commute or just love to ride, don’t let a little snow get in the way. I ran across these DIY snow bike tires a few years ago and even made my own set when I lived in Denver. They work exceptionally well and it only takes about 15 minutes to make just about any bike a bit safer on icy paths and roadways.
Basically all you will need are about 50 zip ties and pliers to make them tight & to cut off the excess nylon. Simple enough and if you’re like me, you probably already have a ton of zip ties sitting around in your tool kit. One other tip to get even more traction for this setup is to take a bit of air pressure out of your tires. Lower pressure means your tire will have a larger contact area to the ground and especially in the corners which is of course where you are most likely to go down. Give it a whirl and enjoy riding in the snow!
