Stage 2 took the riders from one iconic Colorado ski town to the finish in another; Aspen to Breckenridge. The riders left downtown Aspen and were greeted to a 19 mile climb to the top of Independence Pass sitting at an altitude of 12,096. This was only the start of the day and with over 100 miles of racing to go after the top of the first of 3 major climbs. In the end Mathias Frank took the stage win, but not without American hopefuls Lachlan Morton, Teejay Van Garderen & Tom Danielson all in the top 10. The overall GC now has Lachlan Morton in Yellow with a 2 second advantage over Frank and only 0:11 over Sagan and Van Gerderen. Danielson stands at 0:29 back.
